Donald Trump is suing Rupert Murdoch for publishing details of a lewd birthday card he allegedly sent to Jeffrey Epstein.

The lawsuit, filed in Miami on Friday, came after the Wall Street Journal alleged Mr Trump sent a note to Epstein in 2003 saying the pair had “certain things in common”.

The US president denied sending the card, which imagined a cryptic conversation between the two men ending with: “A pal is a wonderful thing. Happy Birthday – and may every day be another wonderful secret.”

“Enigmas never age,” he allegedly wrote elsewhere in the card.

Mr Trump is suing Dow Jones, News Corp, two Wall Street Journal reporters who wrote the story and the newspaper’s owner Mr Murdoch for libel and slander.
