LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — The North Las Vegas Police Department is investigating its second officer-involved shooting of the year.

On Sunday, just before 2 p.m., Police responded to reports of a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot with two adults and three children on Tropical Parkway and Nicco Way, near the I-15 and 215 interchange in the northeast valley.

Officers talked with the driver for a few minutes before that driver sped off, hurting one of the children who was left outside the car. However, police say the driver didn’t leave and instead circled the parking lot and rammed an officer with his car.

Investigators say an officer shot at the suspect and then arrested him.

A woman and the kids in the car were taken to a hospital for evaluation.
