Vancouver police are investigating the stabbing death of a 15-year-old boy near the Vancouver Law Courts on Saturday night. The incident occurred at Smithe and Hornby streets, and the victim, a resident of Surrey, was attacked before 11:40 p.m. PT.
Sgt. Steve Addison stated, "Vancouver police investigators have been working non-stop to secure evidence, identify witnesses, and find the person, or people, responsible for this murder." A passerby alerted authorities by calling 911 after witnessing the incident. Officers found the boy on Hornby Street, where he received treatment from first responders.
Despite efforts to save him, the victim succumbed to his injuries and died in the hospital early Sunday morning. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the case. Police are urging anyone with information or dash camera footage from the area during the time of the incident to come forward.
The identity of the victim has not been released by authorities. A media availability is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Monday, where police will address questions regarding the investigation and the circumstances surrounding the boy's death.
