School districts across the country are gearing up for the start of the school year as uncertainties linger at the federal level.

Following the Trump Administration’s decision to freeze nearly $7 billion in public education funding approved by the U.S. Congress , $1.3 billion of this funding was restored Monday by the U.S. Department of Education for after-school and summer education programs for high-poverty and low-performing schools.

States were informed of the renewed funding, known as the Title IV-B — the 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant, last week . According to the Colorado Department of Education (CDE), the state was projected to lose $12.8 million for the 2025-26 fiscal year.
