COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) — Today won't be a soaker, but you'll still want to keep the umbrella handy just in case.

Scattered showers and isolated storms are forecast to stick around the Midlands this morning and afternoon.

Severe weather and flash flooding are not expected locally.

The wet weather combined with mainly cloudy skies will keep highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.

Dry, sunnier weather will help warm highs close to 90 on Friday.

Saturday will be even hotter with highs in the low 90s and heat index values as high as the upper 90s.

Forecast highs will settle into the upper 80s Sunday through most of next week.

The long term outlook looks active with numerous chances at showers and thunderstorms.
