MOORHEAD — An air quality alert has been issued for Sunday, June 8, for all of Minnesota as smoke from Canadian wildfires is expected to follow a cold front, according to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency.
Smoke will also cover much of North Dakota, according to the National Weather Service.
Fine particle levels are expected to reach the orange air quality index category, a level considered unhealthy for sensitive groups, such as people with asthma or other breathing conditions, heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes, pregnant people, children and older adults, according to the MPCA. Sensitive groups should limit prolonged or heavy exertion and time spent outdoors.
