A Columbia man has been arrested and charged in connection to a string of car burglaries throughout the city, according to the Columbia Police Department.

Police arrested Nikolaus Harvey, 26, Monday, and he faces charges of first-degree burglary, felony stealing, and possession of burglary tools.

Harvey was identified as a suspect who had stolen from numerous vehicles and residences in central Columbia, police said. Harvey allegedly admitted to stealing from about 20 vehicles in the last two months and to attempting to steal from over 100 vehicles in the last two months, according to a probable cause statement.

Columbia police said they were able to identify Harvey with footage from shared cameras and officer knowledge of the community.
