D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser finally said what’s really on her mind about the federal takeover of the city’s police department and President Donald Trump’s trashing of the District.
“We don’t live in a dirty city,” Bowser declared during a Zoom meeting with invited community leaders. “We are not 700,000 scumbags and punks. And we don’t have neighborhoods that should be bulldozed.”
The mayor for two days had calmly responded in public to Trump’s takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department, insisting she and Chief Pamela Smith were still in charge.
