WASHINGTON — Uber is giving women riders and drivers more ways to choose who they ride with.
The company announced it is rolling out a pilot program that allows women to opt into being matched with other women on the Uber app. The new Women Preferences feature gives women riders the ability to request women drivers and lets women drivers choose to pick up women riders. The feature will begin testing in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Detroit over the next few weeks.
Riders can opt in by selecting the Women Drivers option when requesting a ride, reserving a ride in advance, or turning on a preference in their app settings. While matches aren’t guaranteed, Uber says the setting increases the chance of being paired with a woman driver, offering “women riders and drivers more choice, more c
