LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Fifteen new officers are officially on Lexington’s police force after completing the rigorous 26 weeks of training.

The January 2025 recruits walked across the stage this morning and stood before Mayor Linda Gorton to take the oath.

Chief Lawrence Weathers of the Lexington Police Department said, “This is a big step and the real beginning toward them taking big strides forward to become crime fighters and suppressors of evil by God. Right?”

“Yes, sir!” the officers responded.

For the last few months, these officers were put through the ultimate test of discipline, patience and tolerance.

Geraldyn Navarro, Class 1-2025, said, “Looked down at my badge just a second ago and thought, ‘There’s no way this time is here.’”
