HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - Two Hastings teenagers charged in a May crash that put a woman in a coma are asking that all or part of their cases be transferred to juvenile court.

Beckett Shafer and Tanner Graf, both 17 and both from Hastings as well as Gregory Stroot, 18, Juniata, are each charged with two counts of felony second degree assault. Each is also charged with exhibition driving and first offense willful reckless driving, both misdemeanors.

Court records indicate that Shafer’s attorney has asked that the misdemeanor driving charges be transferred to juvenile court. An evidence hearing on the assault charges against Shafer is scheduled Aug. 12. A ruling on the juvenile court transfer would be made after that.
