SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KTIV) - The Norm Waitt Sr. YMCA hosted a free bike rodeo, and kids from across the area were invited.

This was an educational event designed to promote bike safety, healthy habits, and active lifestyles for Siouxland children and families.

The kids learned about the importance of wearing a helmet when they ride. The children were also supervised through a course to practice stopping, turning, signaling, and other key skills.

Organizers are hoping this event helps get kids more active during the summer.

“You know, I think biking is a fast and growing activity here in the Siouxland area. Especially with Cone Park so close by, you know we’re encouraging kids to bike more and be healthy and stay outside more,” said Sports Rec and Family Director Anthony Johnson.
