SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Nebraska (KTIV) - Several crew members of USS CANISTEO, a Cimarron-class fleet oiler built in the closing days of World War 2, held a reunion in the Siouxland area.
They visited locations like the Sioux City Railroad Museum, the 185th Air Refueling Wing, and Siouxland Freedom Park.
This is all part of a reunion that they started years ago by visiting locations in the hometowns of different crew members.
They have been to several other cities, and this time they chose Sioux City.
“Well, I live here and have been born here, and then, as I said, we go to other people’s places. Well, they selected to come to Sioux City; there had only been one couple that had been to Sioux City,” said Joel Weigand of the USS Canisteo 2025 Reunion.
