LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln man was sentenced Friday for hitting and killing a pedestrian in 2024.
Michael Hockman, 42, got a total of 360 days in jail for attempting to leave the scene of a serious injury accident and false reporting.
On Feb. 9, 2024, Steven Keith was in a median on 27th Street near Old Dairy Road when he fell into an SUV.
Court documents say the 64-year-old started crawling across the street, but Hockman hit him with a convertible.
Hockman knew he ran over someone but didn’t stop, according to an arrest affidavit.
He will report to the Lancaster County Jail on Aug. 15.
After his jail sentence, Hockman will spend a year on probation.
