LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 54-year-old man was sent to jail Friday for a baseball bat attack in Lincoln.

Judge Kevin McManaman sentenced Arthur Craft to 1½ to 2 years in prison for second-degree assault.

But with credit for 382 days already spent behind bars, Craft could be eligible for parole in as soon as 68 days.

The assault happened in April 2024 at a home near Northwest 18th and West O streets.

Court documents say a man gave Craft a drink, “which upset him.”

Craft attacked the man, police said, pushing him to the ground and punching him in the head over and over.

A woman intervened and tried to pull Craft off the man, but an arrest affidavit says he shoved her.

She then took an aluminum baseball bat and repeatedly hit the wall to try to get Craft to leave.
