WICKSBURG, Ala. (WTVY) -The ending of the Mexico tomato agreement could mean good things for American tomato growers.

“Throughout the state, people have always looked for Slocomb tomatoes. It has always been a staple in this area,” Farmer Bobby Edmundson said.

New developments on the national stage could bring Alabama tomatoes to a bigger market.

For years, the United States-Mexico Tomato Suspension Agreement has been in place, much to the disadvantage of American growers.

Edmondson of Edmundson Farms has farmed all of his life. While not producing tomatoes on a grand scale, he has seen the impact of the agreement.
