NEW ORLEANS — While a New Orleans jail inmate mistakenly released by the Sheriff's Office on Friday remains at large, WWL Louisiana has learned from multiple sources that the sequence of events that led to the mistake began in the early morning hours Friday, even though the public was not notified until late that afternoon.

The sources confirm that the errors that led to the mistaken release of 30-year-old Khalil Bryan started shortly after 1 a.m.

While Bryan was reportedly released a short time later, it is still unclear what time deputies realized their mistake and what time the sheriff herself was notified.
