A Tuscaloosa man was arrested Monday for using a fake cashier’s check to purchase a vehicle in Franklin County after police say it took nearly two years to identify and locate him.
According to the Russellville Police Department, 25-year-old Jakari Deyon Wills is accused of using the fake cahier's check to purchase that vehicle from a private seller for $35,000.
Jail records show Wills was charged with theft by deception and possessing a forged instrument. Police say his bond was set at $20,000.
In other incidents that are unrelated to Wills, police say they have had vehicles and other valuable items stolen by other types of fraud, such as fake money, forged checks, fake money orders, etc.
