CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) - A Mississippi man pleaded guilty and was sentenced on charges in a deadly shooting at a Jackson motel in 2021.
According to a news release from Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Welker, 30-year-old Clifton D. Smith pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and first-degree assault on Monday, July 28.
He was charged in a shooting at Town House Inn in Jackson on December 22, 2021 that killed one person and injured another.
Smith was sentenced to 25 years in the Department of Corrections on each count, to be served concurrently.
