A second Cleveland Guardians pitcher has been linked to MLB’s betting investigation.
Closer Emmanuel Clase was placed on non-disciplinary paid leave on Monday, MLB announced. His leave will run through Aug. 31.
“We have been informed that no additional players for Club personnel are expected to be impacted,” the Guardians said in a statement obtained by MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand . “The Guardians are not permitted to comment further at this time and will respect the league’s confidential investigative process as we continue to fully cooperate.
In 48 games this season for Cleveland, Clase has a 3.23 ERA with 47 strikeouts. He is a three-time MLB All-Star, three-time American League saves leader and two-time AL Reliever of the Year.
