PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Gov. Dan McKee is at a growing financial disadvantage against his all-but-declared Democratic primary rival for next year, former CVS executive Helena Foulkes, according to numbers released by their campaigns.
McKee's campaign manager, Rob Silverstein, said the governor raised $205,000 during the three months that ended June 30 and closed the quarter with $879,000 in his campaign account.
Foulkes' campaign advisor, Jon Romano, said she raised more than three times as much -- $636,000 -- during the same period. She has now amassed $2.1 million for the campaign, more than double the amount McKee has stockpiled.
McKee narrowly defeated Foulkes, a first-time candidate, in the 2022 gubernatorial primary, and she has been preparing for a rematch for much of the time
