ST PAUL, Minn. — Gov. Tim Walz issued two writs of special election Tuesday to fill the state Senate seats previously held by Sen. Bruce Anderson and Sen. Nicole Mitchell.
According to Gov. Walz's office, the special elections will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4, with primary elections — if necessary — taking place on Tuesday, Aug. 26.
Sen. Anderson represented District 29 before he unexpectedly died earlier this month at the age of 75. The Republican from Buffalo began his career in public service as a member of the Minnesota House in 1995. He was elected to the Minnesota Senate in 2012. His district served parts of Hennepin, Meeker, Sherburne and Wright counties as a Senator.
