LAUREL HILL, Va. — With high school football season approaching, the athletics director for the largest school district in Virginia said administrators have improved the student transfer system.

Fairfax County Public Schools’ Tom Horn told WUSA9 how over the past six months, the school district centralized how transfers are verified as a result of the football recruiting scandal at Hayfield Secondary School. Prior to the allegations, schools conducted the transfers differently .

“We are vetting every transfer the exact same way across all 25 schools so every student that transfers will be centrally managed first,” Horn said. “We’re going to do better.”
