RAMSEY COUNTY, Minn. — The Ramsey County Attorney's Office (RCAO) said it will not pursue criminal charges against officers who shot and injured Earl Bennett in the fall of 2024. The investigation found that the use of force was justified.

Bennet was a suspect in a shooting at a Minneapolis encampment that occurred on Oct. 27. During the arrest on Oct. 28, authorities say Bennett pointed a gun at them. To which, officers responded by firing their weapons.

He was transferred to Regions Hospital in critical but stable condition.

Bennett was then charged with three counts of second-degree murder after he shot Christopher Martell Washington, Louis Lemons Jr., and Samantha Jo Moss at a homeless encampment. He was also charged with one count of first-degree murder in another shooting incident
