As one of only two returning starters on offense, JT has stepped into a bigger leadership role with the Mavericks.
You won’t hear Milford quarterback Caden “JT” Johnston-Thompson complaining about the scorching heat during summer practices and 7-on-7s, early mornings in the weight room or late nights studying game film.
“It’s my last year, these are my last practices,” JT said after throwing against three teams on July 22 at Livonia Clarenceville. “It’s pretty wild that it’s senior year, so I’m just taking it all in, for sure.”
That’s the attitude the Mavericks need from their third-year starter, especially with graduation being so unkind to them following last season. They lost nine of their 11 starters on offense. Only JT and lineman Ben Vanderlist are back.
Sure, they return rotatio
