ELSEMER, Ky. (WXIX) - Northern Kentucky authorities have a hunch about where the murder weapon used in the killing of a teen girl might be.
Fifteen-year-old Tristan Smith was killed in Elsmere on July 21.
Elsmere police said another teen was arrested for her murder, but the gun used in Smith’s killing was never found.
“It’s very disturbing that a 15-year-old had access to a gun, much less had a gun,” Kenton County Commonwealth Attorney Rob Sanders said.
The shooting, according to Sanders, happened inside the teen suspect’s bedroom at a home on Autumn Road.
“The murder weapon has still not been recovered,” Sanders explained. “It’s extremely alarming that the gun could be out in the public somewhere.”
