Plemon Bates, 15, had just finished interacting with registrar Nikki Bertrand.

The process was “pretty good,” he said, seemingly unfazed by all the excitement of the matriculation for high school student at New Mexico Military Institute (NMMI) Tuesday in Godfrey Athletic Center.

Plemon said he came to the school for it's great academics and because it is in his hometown.

“It's a lot of just standing around and waiting in line, and do what they tell you to do,” Plemon said.

While the young Plemon didn't seem to be too excited, school officials were almost giddy about the incoming students.
