Jerry Acosta, mission pastor for Roswell Grace Community Church, said Tuesday a group of volunteers from the church have been traveling to Ruidoso in recent weeks to help residents of that community recover from a series of devastating floods.
The mountain community has been battered by flooding in areas downstream from burn scars that remain from two large fires in the area during the summer of 2024.
“We cleaned houses, we moved furniture and we took out sheet rock,” Acosta said. “We helped families that were flooded.”
He said about 60 volunteers from the church took part in the effort.
“We went over early in the morning and came back late each night,” Acosta said.
He said each day typically included about a dozen volunteers from the church making the trip to the Ruidoso area. Acosta
