The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory until 7 p.m. Friday with temperatures near 105° F expected in the Chaves County Plains, including Roswell. The NWS forecast calls for slightly cooler temperatures going into the weekend, but still remaining at 102° for Saturday and 99° Sunday.

The New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) is telling residents to protect themselves and others, particularly those most vulnerable to heat-related illness during the advisory.
