Father to attend hearing after infant dies in hot vehicle

HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - The man charged in connection with the death of his son will attend a hearing Friday.

On Tuesday, the Adams County Attorney charged 36-year-old Jeremy Hansen with negligent child abuse resulting in death.

Hastings police arrested Hansen on Monday after his son was reported unresponsive in a hot vehicle in a south Hastings parking lot. First responders were unable to revive the child.

A Hastings police preliminary investigation determined that the boy died of extreme heat exposure.

A hearing in the case is scheduled for Friday morning in Adams County Court.
