SHREVEPORT, La. - A woman shot and killed just west of downtown Shreveport early Tuesday has been identified by the Caddo Parish Coroner's office.

Sherita Layton, 38, of Shreveport, was in the 400 block of Pete Harris Drive when she was shot along with two other people. She was taken to Ochsner LSU Health, where she was pronounced dead.

SPD said the victims were shot when someone in front of the Session Levingston Motel began firing.

The death was the 23rd confirmed homicide in Shreveport in 2025. There are five additional homicides in Caddo Parish outside the city this year, for a total of 28 in Caddo Parish overall.

The death remains under investigation by the Shreveport Police Department.
