ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KFVS) - The St. Louis Cardinals have traded closer Ryan Helsley to the New York Mets for three minor league prospects.

Helsley played in 275 games for the Cardinals since his major league career started in 2019. He’s been an All-Star twice and is the longest-tenured player in the Cardinals organization. He was drafted by the Cardinals in 2019.

The Cardinals acquired infielder Jesus Baez, right-handed pitcher Nate Dohm and right-handed pitcher Frank Elissalt.

Baez, 20, is from the Dominican Republic. Baseball America ranked Baez the no. 6 prospect in the Mets system.

The Mets drafted Dohm, 22, in the 3rd round in 2022. Baseball America ranked Dohm the no. 25 prospect in the Mets system.

Elissalt, 23 was drafted in the 19th round of the 2024 MLB Draft by the Mets.
