Crime statistics as recorded by the Killeen Police Department were up in June.

The June reports, released earlier this month, show a marked increase in reports of motor vehicle theft, drug violations, burglary and larceny reports.

Homicides in June were up — from zero reported in June 2024 to two reported this June. Homicide totals for the first six months of the year are also up. There were six reported from January to June in 2024, and 11 reported for the same period this year.

Aggravated assaults and simple assaults rose somewhat for the month of June with increases of 16.22% and 1,6%, respectively. For the period from Jan. 1 to June 30, aggravated assaults and simple assaults rose by 14.39% and 20.38%, respectively.
