Pope Leo XIV started his day Wednesday with an unexpected taste of the Windy City, thanks to a surprise delivery of Chicago-style deep dish pizza.

According to a post on social media, the Holy Father received the savory surprise just ahead of his weekly General Audience at the Vatican.

“Pope Leo XIV got a slice of Chicago-style deep dish pizza from @AureliosPizza all the way from Chicago ahead of his General Audience this morning,” the account wrote, accompanied by a video.

In the footage, Pope Leo was seen in the Popemobile as he neared a sign that read "We have Aurelio's Pizza." The Pope told the driver to stop and his security guard was sent to pick up the pizza. As he looked at the box, Pope Leo gave the group a thumbs up.
