LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Nebraska Head Coach Matt Rhule announced on Thursday that sophomore tight end Mac Markway suffered another serious knee injury, likely keeping him out for a significant amount of time. Markway is an LSU transfer who was sidelined in 2024 with an ACL tear. Rhule said Markway was injured earlier this week during one of the Huskers’ opening practices of fall camp. Markway had made a quick impression on the coaching staff and figured to be in Nebraska’s tight end rotation this season. Rhule described the situation as “tremendously devastating.”
Markway’s absence does not deplete Nebraska’s tight end position. The Huskers have solid options in Luke Lindenmeyer, Heinrich Haarberg, and Carter Nelson.
