SEEKONK, Mass. (WPRI) — The former postmaster for the Seekonk Post Office pleaded guilty on Wednesday to stealing more than $19,000 from the government.
Bethany LeBlanc, 48, was arrested back in May, according to U.S. Attorney Leah Foley's office.
While serving as postmaster from November 2023 until February 2025, Leblanc was authorized to issue and approve no-fee money orders.
Money orders are generated by the United States Postal Service (USPS) as a safe alternative to mailing cash or checks. No-fee orders are only issued for paying USPS-related expenses.
Foley's office said LeBlanc was accused of generating 25 no-fee money orders to herself, totaling $19,917 through fake invoices for USPS expenses. She reportedly presented those invoices to clerks at the Seekonk Post Office, who wou
