PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) -- A Central Falls man has been sentenced for his role in the 2020 murder of 22-year-old Joel Rosario, R.I. Attorney General Peter Neronha announced Friday.

Jairo Esdel Galva, 26, was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences at the ACI and an additional 30 years to serve concurrently.

In March, a jury found Galva guilty of second-degree murder, discharging a firearm when committing a crime of violence resulting in death, committing a drive-by shooting and carrying a firearm without a license.

On Oct. 31, 2020, police were called to Lonsdale Avenue in Pawtucket for reports of shots fired. When officers got there, they found Rosario, who had been shot in his chest. Rosario was rushed to Miriam Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
