Best Buy is launching small Ikea showrooms in select stores to complement its array of kitchen and laundry appliances.
The Twin Cities-based electronics retailer announced on Thursday that it will debut the Ikea shop-in-shops this fall at 10 stores in Florida and Texas. Two of those Best Buy stores will also serve as Ikea fulfillment centers, where shoppers can pick up Ikea products purchased on the Swedish furnisher's website at no additional cost.
The 1,000-square-foot showrooms are intended to help shoppers understand appliances and how to incorporate them into their lives, whether someone is looking for a laptop, TV or washing machine, according to Best Buy's chief merchandising officer, Patrick McGinnis.
