HOOD COUNTY, Texas — A person was shot and killed Thursday morning after deputies said the individual pulled out a gun while Hood County officials attempted to serve a felony arrest warrant.

According to a news release from the Hood County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 400 block of Lands End Court in the Indian Harbor subdivision around 9:15 a.m. to serve the warrant. When they made contact, the suspect "presented a firearm" toward deputies, prompting them to open fire, the sheriff’s office said.

HCSO said the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the sheriff's office, no deputies suffered injuries in this shooting.

The sheriff's office said the Texas Department of Public Safety - Texas Ranger Division is leading the investigation.
