NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – The estate of a man who was fatally attacked with a machete by his co-worker while on a North Charleston construction site is suing the companies that maintained the site, alleging they failed to prevent him from harm.

David Keith Carter, 57, was a contracted worker at the SHL Medical construction site on Trade Center Court on June 19, 2024, when he got into an argument with fellow contract worker Tyrone Clayton Campbell, 33, before 3 p.m.

During the argument, Campbell pushed Carter to the ground and began attacking him with a machete, the North Charleston Police Department said. Carter was conscious when the attack happened and had multiple lacerations on his face, head, and body, court documents state.
