AUGUSTA, Maine — The state of Maine has emerged as one of the Trump administration's most persistent legal challengers—joining roughly 30 lawsuits against the White House since January, according to the office of Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey.
Frey, a Democrat, has aligned Maine with dozens of other states in legal challenges to everything from funding freezes by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to attempts to dismantle federal agencies and efforts to redirect funds away from certain medical research.
In these suits, Frey and his counterparts have framed the White House's actions as reaching outside the power of the executive branch.
