NEWARK - Bicyclists are one step closer to having an accessible pathway in the notoriously congested Military Park area to safely enjoy the views of downtown Newark and the riverfront.

Thomas DiBiase, Newark’s design consulting deputy project manager, outlayed the latest recommendations for the Newark pedestrian and bicycle access concept development study on Tuesday night, July 29.

Since 2023, city officials and Newark stakeholders have been working on a concept development study to improve the pedestrian and bicyclist connection between Broad Street and the Passaic waterfront area, east of the McCarter Highway intersection with Center Street.
