MCCALL, Idaho — The City of McCall will host its 19th annual Classic Wooden Boat Show Friday through Sunday, drawing more than 30 boat owners to showcase vintage watercraft on Payette Lake.
The event, organized by the Payette Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society , began in 2005 as an informal gathering of boat enthusiasts and has grown into a popular weekend tradition.
"Everybody puts a lot of time and effort into them, and we just love it,” said Bill Coale, an East Coast native who owns a 1947 Chris Craft.
For Coale and other participants, the boat show represents more than recreation. The wooden boat hobby connects him to his maritime roots and provides an opportunity to preserve nautical history.
