ROCKINGHAM, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A chase of a wanted suspect in Richmond County led to sheriff’s deputies firing their guns at him.
According to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received an alert regarding a wanted individual. When they attempted to pull the associated vehicle over north of Ellerbe, the suspect allegedly tried to evade the deputies, leading to a chase that ended on U.S. 220 Business.
During the encounter, the sheriff’s office said the suspect produced a firearm, and the deputies fired their own weapons as a response. The suspect was transported to a trauma center by First Health EMS; the deputies were not injured.
