COLUMBIA, S.C. — South Carolina is officially the 33rd state in the country to adopt a hands-free driving law aimed at reducing distracted driving and saving lives on the road.
Gov. Henry McMaster held a ceremonial bill signing Thursday at the State House for the " South Carolina Hands-Free and Distracted Driving Act ," surrounded by lawmakers, law enforcement leaders, safety advocates, and families who lost loved ones to distracted driving.
“This is another important day,” Gov. McMaster said. “We try to pass rules, pass laws to make things better, to help and protect our people, the great people of South Carolina, and this is another such step.”
