SHAWNEE, Kan. -- After a man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing a man in a Shawnee business early Friday morning, August 1, charges have been filed.
Court records show that the Johnson County, Kansas District Attorney's Office has filed a charge of attempted first-degree murder against Maikol Valdes.
The charges allege that Valdes "unlawfully, feloniously, intentionally and with premeditation" tried to kill the victim.
Police say the victim in the stabbing remains in stable condition.
The arrest and charges come after an hours-long search for Valdes. On Friday, around 3 a.m., the Shawnee Police Department and the Lenexa Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious person near 79th Street and Quivira Road, where they were able to take Valdes into custody.
