KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Kansas City, Kansas Police Department says an officer-involved shooting took place Friday afternoon.

While KCKPD says that no officers were hurt in the shooting, one suspect is being taken to a nearby hospital.

Additionally, police said that State Avenue between 82nd Terrace and 84th Drive is currently blocked as KCKPD works the scene. KCKPD is asking the public to avoid the area.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation will now take over the investigation.
