Weeks after her controversial veto of a bill restricting biological males from women’s spaces, Gov. Kelly Ayotte signed legislation banning sex change procedures on minor children Friday, a sign the Republican governor is largely in line with her party — and the voters — on the issue.

Gov. Chris Sununu signed a bill banning a procedure commonly known as “bottom” surgery for minor children, preventing the permanent disfiguring of a child’s genitals in pursuit of changing gender identity. Ayotte has now signed legislation banning cosmetic breast surgery for minors — AKA “top” surgery ( HB 712 ) — and chemical treatment/puberty blockers for minors changing their sexual identity ( HB 377 ).
