AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - A now former Corporal with Richmond County Sheriff’s Office was arrested for DUI and open container.

Corey Whitfield was arrested on July 26 by Georgia State Patrol and charged with DUI and open container.

Celebrity chef Paula Deen and her two sons, Jamie and Bobby, have announced the closure of two of their Savannah restaurants.

Whitfield was demoted from corporal to deputy with a five-day suspension, a year of probation and a transfer to the detention center.
