MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Susan Crawford began her 10-year term on the state’s highest court on Friday.
In the most expensive court race in U.S. history, Crawford defeated conservative candidate Brad Schimel in April, securing a 4-3 liberal majority on the court.
“I think this race may have been a little bit more than what we bargained for at the outset,” Crawford said during her investiture ceremony at the State Capitol. “But we did it!”
As a lawyer, Crawford represented Planned Parenthood and a group of teachers suing to overturn parts of Act 10. Crawford most recently served as a Dane County Circuit Court judge.
